Second Shooting with Ivy & Tweed - Sara and Steven's Bremerton Wedding

December 04, 2014

This summer I got to stand alongside one of the most talented photographers I have ever met and capture a beautiful backyard wedding.

Candice Hackett is the owner of Ivy & Tweed Photography and is one of the sweeter people I have met in this industry.  You can even ask my husband, when she asked me to help her out on this wedding I nearly fell off my chair because I respect her work so very much.

On the drive to Sara and Steven's big day Candice and I had the chance to chat about life as photographers, as wives of good men, as women who have run the career gamut and as girls who just love pretty things.  I will always remember one thing she said when I asked her what she expected of me for the day, "Just be yourself and shoot what looks good to you, don't shoot for me or for a publication or for someone else, I like your work so shoot your work."

This day is still the keeper of some of my favorite images I have ever captured.  The scenery was divine.  The wedding party were a blast.  The weather couldn't have been better.  Sara and Steven were the penultimate picture of young love, not patronizing young love that often gets squashed by naysayers who expect you to have more life experience before marriage but the kind of young love that already feels like old love.  The day was perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better encourager to shoot alongside.  Thanks for trusting me with these, Candice, Sara & Steven, I will forever be grateful for being a part of this day.

These are some seriously hardcore bridesmaids :)  These girls were way too much fun!

I hope these images have warmed your day, they certainly warm my heart.  Congratulations again to Sara & Steven, I hope France was amazing!
