Kerry & Lizzy - Lincoln City Engagement

October 17, 2013

I have retyped the first sentence to this post, introducing Kerry & Lizzy's engagement pictures, six times now.  One of those sentences was kindly banged out by my one-year old son sitting on my lap.  I have tried to be witty, sentimental, historical and familial.  Truthfully, none of those sentences worked.  In fact the nonsense that looked a lot like "  bvfhyukbvbn bn hyjgf450-"  probably would do a better job than me at describing these two, not because they are in any way nonsensical but because words don't do them justice.

Kerry is my brother-in-law, he is smart, talented, funny and has excellent taste and Lizzy is perfect evidence of that.  We spent the weekend as a family in Lincoln City and seeing them together makes you believe that good things happen to good people, that love is real and that board games really do bring people together.

I listened to them separately tell me what they love about the other and the depth of their certitude in the other seemingly matched the roar of the ocean behind us.  They have found the truest desires of their hearts and they are not letting go.  It's not often words fail me, but this last weekend caught me speechless more than once and often it was simply seeing the glances they gave each other.  Their love is warm, inviting, deeply personal and exquisitely freeing at the same time.  It is a story you want to be part of, and lucky for you, they are the kind of people who tell great stories.

Now, I know I said these two are certainly not nonsensical, it doesn't mean they aren't a couple of goofballs.

The Oregon Coast is always spectacular at sunset.  This weekend it just also happened to be 60 degrees, that is an unheard of kind of beautiful in October.  I guess it just wanted to match the occasion!

Congratulations to the two of you and Lizzy, welcome to the family, we are so happy you're here!
